While some things change, others remain the same.  J Ethan still mohawks small pups’ hair, Tina still needs a job, and LA is still sunny, warm and perfect.

Chaos…sweet sweet serenity. A lesson in diligence.

We’ve adventured, we’ve traversed, and we have conquered. The house is not quite finished and our lives are still up in the air, but we have fabulous house mates, close friends in the area, and clean living.  The state is cool, smog filtered, and overflowing with self centered know-it-alls…can’t wait to listen to all their stories!

Load up, take I-10 West, drive in, unload, buy bed, make new friend!  Charlie has taken a liking to the quilt my Aunt Jean made me for high school graduation!!

Hello my little friend…

Ah Arizona…you really are one of my most complicated relationships.  Hot, arid, and dusty at the four corners; cold, windy, and lush in Flagstaff; and  shaped like a earthenware bowl, collecting all that remains of the state safe in your basin—nothing but smooth sailing from Flagstaff into Cave Creek at sunset.  No matter how many times we leave you, you beckon us back home again-we can complain about the sun, sand, and heat, but we simply cannot get enough of it all in the end.

Highlights of Arizona so far: We have now officially been in four places at once, J. Ethan has taken up the mad scientist look, I didn’t know I could still do the splits, and Blonde Bessie (our Penske tuck) has finally gone over the 7,000 mile mark!

Next stop: Chattman storage unit—then on to our new home!

Colorado is a BIG state. In fact, the entire western part of the USA is made up of nothing but massive—country sized—states that seem to take endless hours to pass through even one quadrant of geographically defined area.

Thursday started off with 43 degree weather, a drive through Colorado potato farm land at 8,000 feet, and included a roller coaster of an elevation ride through the unexpected climb of the Great Continental Divide: Salida= 7,000; Saguache= 7,700; Wolf Creek Pass=10,857; Durango=6,512; Cortez=6,191

After seeing the manner in which our glorious Penske truck maneuvered the steep inclines and engined braked for us on the decline we decided that we officially LOVE our rental truck (so much so that I fear I will have to unclench J. Ethan’s fingers from her steering wheel when we have to return her)—anyway, we love her so much, that we have now given her a name: “Blonde Bessie”  (yes yes I know, blondes…I’m over it, I love her, and yes, it is spelled with an “i-e” not a “y” which I found out abruptly upon my spelling error.

Update #7 Cave Creek, Arizona

Colorado mornings end in Arizona sunsets. With a pit stop in Durango for sweet belts and yummy eats, we’ve gone through mountain passes and the great divide-but we’ve cleaved the country in two!
